Sonal Dry Fruits

You can find us at Shop Number 4 in the Ashirwad building. It is right there in Prabhadevi, near the Bengal Chemicals landmark which most people in the area know. The space is not very large, but we manage to fit all the bags of cashews, almonds, and raisins inside. On some mornings, the smell of the dried fruits is really strong when you first open the door. We spend a lot of time weighing things out on the small scale and tying up plastic bags with yellow twine. The street outside stays busy because of the offices and the chemical plant nearby. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time finding a place to park on the road. We have been sitting in this shop for years, watching the neighborhood change around us. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are usually too busy sorting through the new stock that comes in from the markets. It is mostly just a lot of lifting heavy sacks and making sure the jars stay full for whoever walks in. We keep a small stool by the counter for when things get quiet in the afternoon. It is a simple setup and we like being close to the main road where everyone passes by. Most of our neighbors are other small shops, and we all know each other’s business pretty well by now. It is just daily life in Prabhadevi for us.
