Harsh Sweet Namkeen & Dryfruit

Harsh Sweet Namkeen & Dryfruit is located on the 3rd floor of the building at 38/42 on Raja Ram Mohan Road. It’s a bit unusual being on the third floor for a shop like ours, but we have our space there near the Dreamland Cinema. Most people in the Prarthana Samaj area know the cinema, so it makes it easier to tell them where to go. We have rows of glass jars filled with different kinds of namkeen and piles of dry fruits that we weigh out for customers. The smell of sugar and fried snacks is pretty much always there in the air. Since we are not on the ground floor, it’s a bit quieter than the street outside, which is usually packed with cars and people. We spend a lot of our time sorting through the stock and packing things into bags. It is a family-run kind of feeling here, with people chatting while they work. We don’t have fancy displays or bright neon lights, just the shelves and the scales. When the festival seasons come around, it gets really hectic and the whole floor is covered in boxes ready to go out. It’s a lot of climbing up and down the stairs sometimes, but we are used to it by now. We just focus on keeping the bins full and making sure the quality of the almonds and cashews is what it needs to be.
