We are based in Deonar, Mumbai. Our spot is 1001 in the Brindavan Terraces building on Deonar Farm Road. We've been working from here for a while now. It's just a small setup, nothing too fancy or impressive to look at. We handle clothes, mostly custom stuff that people come in and ask for. It gets really busy during the wedding season, so we are often working late into the night. The traffic around Deonar can be a real headache sometimes, but the building itself is quiet enough once you get inside and shut the door. We spend most of our day cutting fabric and checking stitches on the machines. Sometimes the light in the workshop isn't the best, but we make it work with a few extra bulbs we put up. There's just a handful of us here doing the work every day. We don't really do big ads or anything like that. People just find us or hear about the shop from a neighbor. Mumbai is a fast city, but inside our space, we try to take our time so things don't get messed up. It’s a lot of manual work. My hands are usually covered in chalk or loose threads by the end of the shift. We’ve got some old sewing machines that have seen better days, but they still run smooth enough for what we need. If you’re coming by, just look for the 1001 room. It's a place where we get the work done and hope the customers like what they get. We drink a lot of chai to keep going.
