Shree Mahalaxmi Silver Palace

Being at Shop No.3 in Ladiwala Chambers means we are right in the middle of everything on Sheikh Memon Street. It is a narrow road and the traffic from the Cotton Exchange building across the way never seems to stop. We have been running Shree Mahalaxmi Silver Palace here for quite some time. It is a small shop, but we have managed to fit everything we need inside. Most days are spent cleaning the glass cases and talking to people who stop by to look at the silver. Some are regulars who have been coming to us for decades, while others are just passing through the market and happen to see our sign. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. My family just takes care of the customers one by one. The noise from the street is always there, but you get used to it after a few weeks. We keep things pretty traditional. If someone wants something specific, we look through our drawers and see what we can find. There is a lot of history in this building and we feel lucky to have a spot here. We aren't looking to change much about how we work. It is about staying consistent and being here when the shutters go up every morning. We drink a lot of tea and wait for the afternoon rush. It is a good life, even if it is a bit crowded sometimes. We just do our work and go home.
