Shankar Sons

Shankar Sons is over in the Elco AC Market in Bandra West. We are at Shop C/35. Being inside the AC market is nice when it gets really hot outside in Mumbai. We’re quite close to the Globus showroom, so people usually find us easily if they know that landmark. The shop isn't huge, but we make use of the space we have. There’s always something going on in Elco. You hear people talking and the sound of the air conditioning running all day. We spend most of our time organizing the shelves and talking to the regulars who stop by. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but not too bad. We've got stuff stacked up high. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once. My brother and I take turns sitting at the desk. We don't do much fancy decoration or anything like that. It’s just a place to do business. Bandra is always moving, and we are just a small part of that. On weekends, it gets really packed around here. You have to watch where you're walking. We just keep the shop running and try to keep things in order as much as possible. It’s just how it is. We’ve been here for a long time now and know most of the other shopkeepers around the floor. It's a decent way to spend the day, really. We just pack up and leave once the market lights start to dim.
