Sara Export

We’ve been here at the Hingwala Building in Byculla for a while now. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when everyone is trying to get through the narrow lanes. Our office is just at number 3. It isn't a very big place, just enough for the desks and all the folders we have piled up. Sara Export is basically just us trying to get things shipped out on time, which is harder than it sounds some days. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we usually forget about that once the phone starts ringing. My uncle used to say that if the desk is clean, you aren’t working, so you can imagine what our desks look like. Byculla has changed a lot, but this building stays pretty much the same. We handle the paperwork and talk to the suppliers, mostly just making sure the stuff is right before it goes out. Sometimes the tea guy from downstairs forgets our order, but that’s just how it is here. Most of our day is spent checking lists and making sure the boxes are labeled correctly. We don’t have fancy furniture or a big lobby. It’s just a practical space where we get the job done. If you ever come by, you’ll probably see us arguing over a shipping manifest or trying to fix the old printer. It’s loud outside with all the traffic, but we’re used to it. We keep moving.
