Up on the first floor of Anna Bhavan at 87/C, you’ll find our office. Sanjay Kumar Shankarlal & Company has been a part of Devji Ratanshi Marg for a long time. It’s one of those old buildings where the hallways are narrow and you can hear the footsteps of everyone passing by. We deal with various commodities and trade goods, mostly in bulk. Our office is filled with the kind of wooden furniture that’s been around since the business started. There are stacks of ledgers everywhere, though we use computers now for the main stuff. It’s a traditional setup where we spend a lot of time talking to regular customers and suppliers who have been coming to us for years. We don’t go for anything modern or flashy in terms of decor. The walls have a few old calendars and maybe some dusty shelves for samples. It’s a bit crowded when we have more than three people in the room, but we like it that way. It feels like a real workplace. Outside on the street, it’s always chaotic with loaders and handcarts, but up here on the first floor, it’s a bit more manageable. We just keep our heads down and get the accounts settled every day. It’s a steady kind of life, and we know our place in the market. No one here is trying to be a corporate giant; we just want to do the job properly.
