Salma Zippers

If you are looking for us, we are down in Ghatkopar West, specifically in the Maulana Compound. The address is a bit long, Nx-26-4/28 in Mariambi's Chawl. It’s right off LBS Marg and not too far from Damodar Park. This area is full of small workshops and people working hard. At Salma Zippers, we spend our days surrounded by all kinds of zippers. Big ones, small ones, different colors, and materials. The machines make a lot of noise when they are running. It can get a bit cramped inside the chawl because we have so much stock piled up. We’ve got bags and boxes of zipper parts everywhere you look. It’s not a shiny showroom. It’s a workplace. We get people from the garment trade coming in looking for specific sizes or colors for their projects. Sometimes the heat in the compound gets to be a lot, so we keep the fans going all day. The street outside is always full of trucks and tempos loading and unloading stuff. We know most of the neighbors in the compound by name. It’s a busy life here near Damodar Park. We just focus on getting the orders right and making sure the zippers work like they should. It’s simple work but it keeps us on our feet from morning until the evening when we finally close up the shop and head home for the night after a long day of zippers.
