Sadhana Cloth Stores

Our shop, Sadhana Cloth Stores, sits near the Bawla Masjid at number 115, right on 4th D Cross in Ilyas Nagar. It’s tucked into the Sarakki Gate area of Mahalaxmi, which is a place that feels very much like an old neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have been here for quite a while, and the shop is pretty much just four walls covered in fabric rolls of all colors. We don't have any of those modern glass displays or bright spotlights that you see in the big malls. It is just a simple, practical place with a few wooden counters where we measure out the cloth for whoever happens to come in that day. Sometimes the street gets very busy, especially on Fridays after the prayers, but we don’t mind the extra bustle outside. My cousin and I manage the shop most days, and we spend a lot of our time just folding and unfolding material to show people the different patterns. The light inside is okay, but we mostly rely on the big front door being wide open to let the sunshine and the breeze in. We have a small wooden stool for customers to sit on if they need to wait for a moment. There’s no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that has been there since the day we opened the doors. We keep a thick ledger on the desk to write everything down by hand. It’s a slow and steady kind of work, and we like it that way. No fancy marketing here.
