S R S Store is right on 90 Feet Road in Dharavi. We are in Block 8 of the Transit Camp. It’s a very small shop, but we pack a lot into it. Being in Dharavi means it’s always crowded and there’s always something happening outside the door. We sell various everyday items that people in the neighborhood need. It isn’t a supermarket with bright lights or aisles. It’s just us behind the counter handing things to customers. We know most of the people who come in because they live just a few minutes away. Sometimes it’s hard to find what you need because we have so much stuff in such a tiny space, but we know where everything is. We don’t have a website or any social media. People just know we are here. The shop can get quite hot in the summer, but we keep the door open to get whatever breeze we can. We’ve been here for years and the shop is like a second home to us. It’s a bit messy and the shelves are old, but it’s a real place for real people. We don’t try to be anything special, just a local store where you can get what you need without any fuss. It’s a busy life on 90 Feet Road, and we are glad to be a part of it. We just open up every morning and wait for the regulars to stop by for their daily things.
