S. L. R. Woods

S. L. R. Woods is located at Shop No. 9 in the Harinam Arcade on Marve Road. We’re right opposite Maniratna Jewellers in Malad West. It’s a pretty easy place to find if you’re in the area. Being a wood shop, there’s always sawdust on the floor and the smell of cut timber in the air. We’ve got all sorts of wood stacked up against the walls. Marve Road is always moving, so there’s a lot of noise from the traffic outside, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We do a lot of custom work, people bringing in measurements for things they want built for their homes. We don’t have a glossy catalog or a showroom with fancy lights. You just come in, see the wood for yourself, and we talk about what you need. It’s very direct. Malad West has changed a lot, becoming much more crowded, but Harinam Arcade still feels like the same old place to us. We’ve known the guys at the jewelry shop across the road for a long time. It’s a good community. Sometimes the heat in the shop gets to be a lot in the summer, especially with the machines running, but we just keep the fans going and keep working. We aren't trying to be the biggest wood suppliers in Mumbai or anything. We just want to do a decent job with the wood we have. That’s plenty for us.
