We are located down at the Mazgaon Sakinaka New Wharf Jetty, specifically at Bhau Ka Dhakka. If you come here early in the morning, you will see us right in the middle of all the fish and the ice. It is a very wet and noisy place to work but that is just the nature of the seafood business. The boats come in with their catch and everything moves very fast so the fish stays fresh. We spend a lot of time standing in rubber boots while we sort through what the fishermen bring us. The air always smells like the sea and salt. There are always people shouting and cranes moving things around in the background. It is not a place for someone who doesn't like a bit of a mess. We have been operating out of this jetty for a long time and we know most of the people who work the docks. Our space is basic, just some tables and plenty of ice buckets to keep things cold. We don't have any air conditioning or comfortable chairs. It is all about getting the seafood processed and ready for the markets. Sometimes the tides make things difficult or the rain comes down hard on the roof. We just put on our rain gear and keep going. It’s a tough job but it is what we know how to do for a living.
