Mangaldas Market is a crazy place if you aren’t used to it. We are right in the thick of it with Ruchika Fashion. If you’ve ever been there, you know how the lanes are so narrow and everyone is carrying big bundles of cloth on their heads. It’s always a bit of a mess, but we like it that way. We spend our days tucked away among stacks of fabric and ready-made pieces. There isn’t much room for a desk, so we usually just work on the main counter. The lighting isn't the best, but we know where everything is kept. My cousin helps me out during the busy season. We don't have a fancy website or a big marketing plan. We just sell what we have to the people who come through the market. Sometimes it gets so crowded you can barely move, but that’s just part of being in this part of Mumbai. We’ve seen the market change over the years, though it mostly stays the same kind of chaotic. We try to keep things simple. We don't use any big words or try to act like we're some huge brand. We're just a small shop in a very old market. It’s dusty and loud, but it’s where we do our work. We show up, we sell our clothes, and we go home. That's basically the whole story of us. We have been here for years.
