Royal Dry Fruit Farsan

If you walk past B/10 in Kandivali West, you’ll probably smell what we’re doing before you see the sign. Royal Dry Fruit Farsan is where we spend our days weighing out bags of snacks and sorting through different types of nuts. It’s a small space, but we manage to fit a lot of stock inside. We have the usual stuff like peanuts and cashews, but people really come for the farsan we keep in the large bins. It’s a neighborhood spot, so we see the same faces every week, usually around five in the evening when everyone wants something to eat with their chai. We don’t do any big advertising because word of mouth in this part of Kandivali is usually enough to keep us busy. The floor is often a bit messy with empty sacks and the scales are always humming. We try to keep things simple and don’t bother with fancy packaging that just adds to the cost. It’s just us and a couple of helpers making sure the bins stay full. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by Saturday, which can be annoying for the regulars, but we just tell them to come back Monday. We like being part of this community and having a shop that feels like a normal part of the street rather than some corporate chain that doesn't know your name. Our family helps out during the holidays when everyone is buying gifts.
