S. R. S. Suits

S. R. S. Suits is located down in the basement of No. 360 Kalba Devi Road. If you are looking for us, we are right opposite Ramwadi. Being in a basement means it stays a bit cooler than the street level, which is nice when the Mumbai heat gets bad. The road outside is always crowded with people and carts moving back and forth. We have been here for quite some time now. It’s a small space but we make it work for what we need. We spend most of our hours looking at suit fabrics and talking to customers who walk down the steps. There is a specific smell of old building and new cloth here. We don't have much natural light, so we rely on the overhead tubes to see what we are doing. Sometimes the stairs get a bit dusty. We spend our time measuring and cutting. It’s a lot of sitting and standing in the same spot. We know the other shopkeepers on Kalba Devi Road pretty well. It’s a tight community in this part of town. We just focus on the suits. Some days are slow and we just sit and drink tea. Other days we are rushing to finish things before the sun goes down. It’s just how it is here in the basement.
