R J Verma

R J Verma is based out of Vishrani Niwas in Matunga East. If you know where the Matunga Post Office is, then you're basically right here. It’s a busy little corner of the world. The building has been around for a long time, and you can tell by the way the walls look and the way the floors have worn down over the years. We spend a lot of time sitting here, handling whatever comes through the door. Usually, you can hear the post office crowd outside, especially in the mornings when things are just starting up. It gets a bit cramped sometimes with all the files and folders we have lying around, but we know where everything is. There’s a specific smell to this place—old paper and maybe a bit of the tea from the shop next door. We don't really have a reception desk or anything like that. People just walk in and we talk across the table. Some days are slower than others, and we just watch the traffic pass by the window. The fan keeps ticking away on the ceiling, though it doesn't do much when the sun is really beating down on the street. It’s just how things are here. We don't try to make it look like something it's not. It's a functional space for R J Verma, and it serves us well enough for what we need to do daily.
