Prakash Trading Co

Our place is Prakash Trading Co, over at B 12 in the Sukh Sagar building near the Rifle Range in Mumbai. Being in the 400086 area means we are right in the thick of things. Trading is a lot of back and forth, checking prices, talking to suppliers, and making sure deliveries actually show up when people say they will. Our office is usually full of samples and half-empty boxes. It’s not the neatest place, but we know where the important stuff is kept. The phone rings a lot, usually someone asking about a shipment or a price change. We’ve been in this spot for years, and the neighborhood has grown up around us. It’s noisy outside with the traffic, but we don't notice it much anymore. I spend a lot of my time at the computer or on the mobile. We don't have a fancy showroom. If someone wants to see something, we just pull it out of a crate. It’s more practical that way. Sometimes the rain gets quite heavy and we have to move the boxes away from the door to keep them dry. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day to keep our energy up. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to actually do it. There’s always another order to process or a delivery to check. We just keep moving and doing what we need to get through the day.
