Prakash Mirror Co. is situated at 463, Tardeo Kacharpatti Road. It’s a busy road and there’s always a lot of dust coming in from the street. We spend half our time just cleaning the glass before we even start working on it. Working with mirrors is tricky because if you drop one, that’s it. You have to be careful every single day. We’ve had our share of accidents over the years, plenty of Band-Aids used in this shop. The space isn't huge, so we have to stack the glass sheets against the walls very carefully. You get a feel for it after a while. The lighting in here isn't the best, but we know where everything is. We cut the glass to size and do the silvering and framing right here on the benches. It’s a lot of manual labor. Sometimes the chemicals for the mirrors have a strong smell, so we keep the doors open even when it's noisy outside. Tardeo is a crowded place, but it's good for being near suppliers. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just walk in or call us on the phone when they need a mirror fixed or a new one made for their house. We just try to do an honest job and not break too many things. It’s been our way of life for a long time now and we plan to stay right here.
