Prabhat Stores

Prabhat Stores is located in Khar West, right in Shop Number 1 of the Nawal Ghar Building. If you are walking around this part of Mumbai, you have probably passed by us. We are a small shop, and we keep it pretty simple. The shelves are usually packed with all sorts of things, and sometimes it is hard to find a spot for everything. We spend our day behind the counter, talking to neighbors and regulars who come in to pick up what they need. Nawal Ghar is an older building, so it has a lot of character, though the walls are a bit faded. It gets very busy in the evenings when people are coming home from work. We don't have a computerized inventory system or anything like that. We just know where everything is by memory. If we run out of something, we just write it down in a notebook and order more. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and people talking, but we like being right in the middle of it. We open early in the morning to get the milk and bread ready for the early birds. It is a lot of standing on our feet and moving boxes around, but we are used to it by now. It is just a local shop where we try to keep things organized and help out the people in Khar West. We hope to stay here for many more years.
