Piyush Traders

Piyush Traders is based out of 1/Hasam Ansari Chawl in the Parsi Wadi area. We are located within the New Maneklal Estate in Ghatkopar West. This part of Mumbai is always crowded and very lively. Our office is just a single room in the chawl. It is a bit cramped because we have to store a lot of our goods right there with us. We have been in this same spot for a very long time. To get to us, you have to walk through some narrow alleys that can be a bit confusing if you are not from around here. We trade in various items and our inventory changes quite often depending on what we can get. It is mostly me and a couple of young men who help with the lifting and carrying. We don't have any air conditioning, just a big old fan that hangs from the ceiling and wobbles a bit when it's on high. In the afternoons, we usually take a break to have some tea from the stall around the corner. We know all the other traders in the estate and we help each other out when someone is short-handed. We don't have a website or any social media. If people want to do business with us, they just come to the chawl and we talk. It is a very basic way of doing things, but it works for us.
