Our shop is in the Shree Laxmi Prasad Bldg. on Nehru Road. If you know Vile Parle East, you know it’s always moving and shaking. We do apparel, so we have lots of racks and hangers taking up space in the rooms. It gets a bit tight in here, especially when we’re getting ready for a big shipment to go out. Nehru Road is loud, and we can hear the traffic and the horns all day long. We don’t mind it much anymore. The building itself is a bit of a landmark for us. We’ve seen other shops come and go, but we’re still here doing our thing year after year. It’s a lot of folding and packing. We don’t have a marketing department or fancy logos on the walls. It’s just a practical workspace for us. Some days the heat is a bit much, but we keep the fans going and get through it. We talk to the other shop owners in the building when we’re out for lunch. It’s a real community. We don’t try to sound like a big corporation because we aren’t one. We’re just a small outfit in Vile Parle East. We know our regulars and we know the delivery guys who come by every day. It’s a straightforward life. We work with clothes, we keep things simple, and we try to stay on top of the orders. That’s pretty much all there is to it.
