Our unit is 124 in the Damji Shamji Industrial Estate. It’s just off Mahakali Caves Road in Andheri East. If you know Mumbai, you know how crowded it gets around here. We’ve been in this building for quite a while. Packaging Engraver (India) is basically a specialized workshop. We do a lot of precise work with engraving, which means we spend a lot of time leaning over benches and looking through magnifying glasses. It’s quiet work in a noisy building. The estate is always full of people moving boxes and trucks trying to navigate the narrow lanes. Inside our space, we try to keep things as clean as possible because dust is bad for the machines. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. We’re just a small group that knows how to handle the engraving tools. We don’t really do marketing. Most people find us because they know someone who worked with us before. We just show up, do the engraving work, and deal with the Mumbai humidity. Sometimes we stay late when a deadline is tight, and we usually order some food from the place downstairs. It’s just a normal job in a busy part of the city. We focus on the plates and the rollers and make sure the lines are sharp. That’s about it for us at Damji Shamji.
