Our office is up on the fifth floor, room 501, in the Gateway Plaza building. It’s right in Hiranandani Gardens in Powai, on A.S. Road. It is a busy part of Mumbai, with lots of traffic and tall buildings everywhere you look. Being in a place like Powai means there is always something going on outside the window. We spend most of our time on the phones or handling emails related to the marketing side of the seafood trade. It is a bit different from being right on the docks, but the work is just as constant. The office isn't anything too fancy, despite the location. We have our desks, our computers, and a lot of files piled up. Sometimes the elevator in Gateway Plaza takes forever, and the afternoon sun can make the office a bit warm. We just get through the day like anyone else. Most of the staff here have a background in the industry, so we know what happens at the water's edge even if we are sitting in an office building now. We talk to suppliers and customers all day, trying to keep everyone on the same page. It gets stressful when there are delays or the weather turns bad elsewhere. We don't have a big corporate feel. It is just a group of us working together to keep the business moving. We take our lunch breaks nearby and then get back to it. It’s a decent place to work, even if the commute through Powai traffic is a bit of a headache.
