Nityanand Provision Stores

Nityanand Provision Stores has been tucked away on Mithagar Road for a long time now. We are right in that Shri Ram Textile Gali, so it's a bit of a tight squeeze for delivery trucks to get in. Every morning we have to move the heavy sacks of grain and flour to make some walking space inside. It’s a bit cramped with all the jars of biscuits and the stacks of soap bars reaching up to the ceiling. We mostly deal with the families living nearby who need their daily essentials like milk, bread, or a kilo of dal. My hands are usually covered in some kind of dust from weighing out the loose sugar or rice. We have an old ledger where we keep track of things, though it’s getting a bit battered at the edges. The ceiling fan hums quite loudly, but you get used to it after a while. Sometimes the delivery guys arrive all at once and the whole lane gets blocked up with crates. It can be a bit chaotic during the evening rush when everyone is coming home from work and realizes they forgot to buy tea leaves or oil. We don't have those fancy scanners, just a basic scale and a good memory for prices. It's a lot of lifting and reaching for things on high shelves. We stay open until late, making sure the last few people get what they need before we close the wooden doors.
