New Welcome General Stores

We run the New Welcome General Stores at Shop Number 2 in the Versova View Co-operative building. It’s in Andheri West, very close to the fish market. If the wind blows a certain way, you can definitely tell where the market is. Our shop is packed with all sorts of things. We have shelves from the floor to the ceiling. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once. We’ve been here a long time, so we know most of the people who live in the building and the surrounding streets. We open early and close late. It’s just a regular store. No fancy displays are here. We just put the stock where it fits. Sometimes we run out of things, and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s a busy neighborhood, especially in the evenings when everyone is out buying food for dinner. A small stool behind the counter is where we sit when things are slow. The building is a bit old, and the paint is starting to look a bit tired, but it’s a good spot for us. We like the chatter of the market and the people. It’s a community shop, and that’s how we like it. Bread, milk, and soap are always ready for anyone who needs them. Versova is a lively place, and being near the fish market means we’re always in the middle of the action. Shop Number 2 is where we’ve spent many years now. Knowing which neighbors like which products helps us keep the right things on the shelves.
