Neelkamal Dresses

We run our shop, Neelkamal Dresses, out of the Calcutta Wala Building right near Mumbai Central. We’re at Shop Number 5 on Punjab Main Road, which is right across from the big Reliance Mall. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there’s always people walking by and looking in the windows at all hours. Inside, it’s usually a bit cramped with all the different garments and fabrics we keep in stock for customers. We deal with all sorts of clothing, mostly just everyday stuff that people need for work or home. It’s not a high-end boutique with carpets and soft lighting or anything like that. It’s more of a practical place where you come to find something that fits your budget. The street noise is constant, and sometimes it's hard to hear the customers over the traffic and horns outside. We spend a lot of our time folding things back up and organizing the racks after a busy afternoon. It’s just the few of us working here, trying to keep everything in some kind of order while the shop is open. Sometimes we get new stock in and the whole floor is covered in cardboard boxes for a day or two. People from the neighborhood stop in quite a bit just to say hello or see what’s new on the hangers. We’ve been in this spot for a long time, so we know most of the other shopkeepers on the block. It’s just a normal shop.
