Navaratna Sea Foods

Down in Kurla West, specifically around area 5, you'll find Navaratna Sea Foods. It’s a busy spot, especially in the early mornings when the stock comes in. The floor is usually wet because that’s just the nature of dealing with fish and ice all day long. It isn't a quiet place. There is always the sound of crates moving and people talking. We don't have fancy displays or those misting machines you see in big supermarkets. We just have our counters and the catch of the day. It smells like the sea, which some people find strong, but it’s just part of the job for us. The space is a bit tight, so you have to watch your step when the deliveries are arriving. We've been here in Kurla for a while, and the routine hasn't changed much. We get the fish, we clean it up, and we sell it to whoever comes by. Sometimes we run out of certain things before noon, and other days we're sitting with plenty of stock. It’s a bit unpredictable like that. We don't do much advertising. Most people who come here live nearby or have been buying from us for years. It's just a local fish shop. We keep the knives sharp and the ice piles high. It’s a lot of manual work, and our hands are always cold, but we just get on with it every day. We don't mind the hard work since it keeps us busy. We just keep our heads down and serve the neighborhood.
