I’ve got this small place over in Colaba, right on A S Char Street. It is in the Sindh Chamber building on the second floor. If you know the area, you know how old these buildings are. The stairs are a bit steep and they creak every time someone walks up. It’s got that old Mumbai charm, I guess you could say. My office is room 21. It’s not very big, but it fits what I need. I spend most of my day here surrounded by papers and samples. Outside, the street is always noisy with people shouting and cars honking. Sometimes I open the window to get some air, even if the city dust comes in with it. Being in Colaba is nice because everything is close by, but the parking is a total nightmare for anyone coming to visit. I’ve been working from this spot for a while now. I usually have a cup of tea in the afternoon from the guy downstairs who brings it up in those little glasses. It’s just me here most of the time, keeping track of my own work. I don't have a big team or a receptionist. If the phone rings, I’m the one picking it up. It’s a simple way to run things, but it works for me. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but I never seem to get around to it.
