Mohammadi Stores

The Old Oriental Building has seen a lot of years. We are at number 12. It's easy to find us if you know Sachapeer Street. Most people just look for the Tata Motors building and then they see us. The shop isn't fancy. It's got old shelves and the floor is a bit worn from all the feet coming through. We open up early, usually when the tea stalls nearby start their stoves. There is a lot of noise from the street, horns and people talking, but that's just how Fort is. We keep the things people need. We don't try to be something we aren't. Sometimes the light inside is a bit dim, but we know where everything is kept. Customers come in, some stay to chat for a bit, others are in a hurry. We just handle the business day by day. It’s a tight space but we make it work. If you walk past Sarbatwala Chowk, you'll see the sign. It’s been there for a while now. Some days are slow, some are packed with people, but we are always here behind the counter. We don't have a big staff, just us and a couple of helpers who have been around forever. It's just a regular shop doing its thing in a busy part of town. The rain sometimes leaks a tiny bit near the front door during monsoon, but we put a bucket there and carry on. The neighbors are good people, we've known the tea seller for twenty years. You get used to the pace of the street. It’s part of the life here.
