We are set up in Santacruz East, right inside Cosmo House on Nehru X Road. Our units are 3 and 4, so we have a bit of room to move around, but it still feels full once we get the fabric rolls delivered. The sound of the sewing machines is pretty much constant from the time we open until we lock up at night. It can get quite hot in here during the summer months, so we usually have a few fans going at full blast. Nehru Road is always packed with cars and people, so there is a lot of energy just outside our windows. We spend our days looking at patterns and making sure the stitching is done the way it should be. It’s not glamorous work, and our clothes usually end up covered in tiny threads by the end of the shift. We have a small table in the corner where we take our breaks and drink some tea. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend an hour fixing them, which puts us behind schedule. But we just keep at it because that is how it goes in the garment business. We’ve been in this building for a while now and we know most of the other people working on the different floors. It’s a busy, dusty, and loud place, but it is where we do our best to get the orders finished on time. We don't have a showroom, just our workspace where the actual making happens.
