Down on R C Dutt Road 16 in Bhuleshwar, you’ll find our place, Mansuklal Bhayani Badampuriwala. Bhuleshwar is always crowded, and the narrow streets are full of life. Our shop fits right into that. We’ve been around for a long time, and the building shows its age a bit. We focus on our badampuri and other traditional items. It’s a lot of manual work, stirring and checking the consistency of everything. The kitchen area is small, so we have to be very organized. We don’t have a big marketing budget or a social media person. Most of our customers are people who have been coming here since they were kids. They bring their own children now. It’s nice to see the generations. We get a lot of regulars who come for the specific taste they remember. Sometimes we run out of ingredients because the local market was short on something. We just tell people to come back tomorrow. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time to close the shop for a day. We stay busy from early morning until late evening. It’s a lot of sweat and hard work, but it’s what we know. We don't try to be something we’re not. It’s just a traditional shop in a very old part of the city. We just keep doing what we've always done and serving the locals who know us.
