Mamta General Stores

Mamta General Stores is situated on N D A Road in Kandivali West. I have been running this shop for a long time, and it has become a bit of a second home for me. We sell a little bit of everything that a household might need on a daily basis, like pulses, rice, snacks, and toiletries. The shop is quite packed, and I have had to get creative with how I stack the jars and boxes so that everything fits. I usually sit on a small wooden stool behind the counter for most of the day. My day starts very early when the milk and bread deliveries arrive, and it does not really end until late in the evening. I know most of the families in this area, and I have seen their children grow from toddlers to teenagers. People often stop by not just to buy a bag of sugar or some biscuits, but to share some news or ask how I am doing. I do not use any computer for my accounts; I still write everything down in a notebook with a blue pen. It is a simple system that has worked for me for decades. The shop can get quite warm in the summer, but I have a small table fan that helps a bit. It is not a fancy supermarket with air conditioning, just a regular general store where you can get what you need and have a friendly word with the owner.
