Sharmili

Sharmili is located at No. 44 Krishna Kunj. We’re right near the Malad Shopping Centre on S. V. Road. If you live in Malad West, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. It’s a good spot, but the traffic on S. V. Road can be a real headache. We’ve been here for quite a while now. The shop is where we spend most of our lives, really. We sell clothes, mostly for women. It’s a mix of things. We try to keep what people in the neighborhood like to wear. It’s not a high-end boutique with a guard at the door. It’s just a regular shop where you can walk in and look around without feeling pressured. We have a few staff members who have been with us for years. We know the regulars by name and we know what they like. Sometimes we just chat about what’s happening in the area. The air conditioning works most of the time, which is a relief in the Mumbai heat. We don’t have a fancy logo or a marketing team. My nephew helped us set up a computer for the billing, but we still like the old way of doing things. It’s a simple business. We open at ten, close late, and do it all again the next day. It’s our life and we’re happy with it. We just hope the rain doesn't leak through the front door this year during monsoon.
