Mahesh Dry Fruits

Mahesh Dry Fruits is tucked into Shop No. 5 at House No. 180 in the Kalina area of Santacruz East. If you know Kalina, you know it’s a place that is always moving, and our shop is right in the middle of that. We have containers of all sizes filled with cashews, almonds, and raisins lining the walls. The space is a bit tight, especially when we have more than two or three people inside at once, but we make it work. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions on the scale and sealing up bags. It’s a quiet kind of work compared to the garages nearby. You can usually smell the walnuts or the dried figs as soon as you step inside. We don't really have any big signs or bright lights; it’s just a regular shop where we keep things honest. Sometimes we spend the whole afternoon just cleaning out the glass jars or checking the stock that came in. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and people walking to the market, but inside it’s mostly just the sound of the scoops hitting the bins. We’ve been in this part of Santacruz for a good stretch of time. People from the nearby houses come in for their regular snacks, and we know most of them by name now. It’s a small operation, just us keeping the shelves full and the floor swept as best as we can.
