Mahendra Cloth Store

Mahendra Cloth Store is on the ground floor of the Shram Saffalya building in Chembur. It’s shop number 11. We have stacks of fabric everywhere. It gets dusty sometimes, but we try to keep it tidy. People from the neighborhood come in to look at materials. We spend the day measuring and cutting cloth. Chembur is a busy place, and our shop reflects that. It's not a huge showroom, just a standard store where we keep rolls of different fabrics. Sometimes customers take a long time to pick a color. We just wait and help them out. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but you can see the patterns well enough. We've been at this location for some years now. The Shram Saffalya building has a lot of other units too, so there is always movement around the ground floor. We open up in the morning and stay until the evening when the street gets crowded. It is a straightforward business. We don't have fancy displays, just the shelves filled with whatever stock arrived recently. If you walk past shop 11, you will see us there with the measuring tape and the scissors. It is just how we earn our living here in Chembur. We know many of the regulars who live in the nearby blocks. They come by when they need something new for a shirt or a dress. It keeps us busy enough throughout the week.
