This shop is right in the middle of Takia Ward Market in Kurla West. We are at Shop No 1, so we are one of the first things you see coming in. Anand Park is right there and the Jammu Masjid is just opposite us. It’s a very busy spot, especially in the evenings when everyone is out getting their groceries. We sell all the usual things you’d expect from a general store. Milk, bread, soap, and whatever else people need for their houses. The shelves are pretty crowded because we try to keep a bit of everything. Sometimes it's hard to find where I put the smaller items. We know most of the people who live around here because they stop by almost every day. It’s a lot of standing and reaching for things on high shelves. The market gets very loud with all the vendors calling out, but inside the store, we just focus on the customers. Sometimes the kids come in for sweets after school. It’s a family-run kind of place. We don’t have a fancy computer system or anything, just a notebook for the accounts and a calculator. It’s simple work but it keeps us busy from morning to night. When the masjid has prayers, the street gets even more crowded. We’ve been in Kurla for a long time and seen the neighborhood grow. It’s a tight space but we make it work for everyone who shops here.
