Lucknow Art Embroidery & Tailors is tucked away in the Wingharish Niwas Building on Old Nagardas Road. Our shop is Shopnoa and we are right in Andheri East. It’s quite easy to find us because we are near the Shiv Sena Office. The shop is usually full of pieces of fabric and different colors of thread. You can hear the sewing machines running from the street sometimes. We do a lot of embroidery work here, which takes a lot of time and patience. It’s not a modern showroom; it’s more of a workshop where we actually sit and do the stitching. The space is a bit cramped because of all the orders we have lying around. We don’t really do any advertising. People just see our sign or hear about us from their neighbors. Andheri is a fast place, but embroidery cannot be rushed. We just focus on one stitch at a time. Sometimes we get very busy and the shop is a bit of a mess with cloth everywhere. We don’t mind it though, because that’s just how work is for us. We’ve been at this location for a while and we know the rhythms of the street outside. Most of our customers come back whenever they need a new outfit or some repair work done. It’s just a simple tailoring shop doing things the old way. We keep working until the job is done.
