Working out of the A to Z Industrial Estate on G. K. Marg has its ups and downs. Being at number 128 means we are right in the thick of things in Lower Parel. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know the traffic can be a nightmare during rush hour, but once you’re inside the estate, it’s just a lot of people getting things done. Springfield Fashions is one of many businesses here, and we’ve got our own little corner where we handle all the garments and orders. The building is older, with those heavy doors and floors that have seen better days, but it works for what we need to do. We spend most of our time dealing with samples, checking fabrics, and making sure the orders are packed up correctly for the delivery trucks. It’s a lot of manual work, moving boxes and checking tags by hand. We don’t have a sleek lobby or a receptionist to greet people when they walk in. Usually, you’ll just find one of us standing over a cutting table or sitting at a desk covered in paper and coffee mugs. The noise from the other units in the industrial estate is constant, but it’s a productive kind of noise that you stop noticing after a while. We’ve been at this address for a while and have seen the neighborhood change a lot, with new towers going up nearby, but inside our unit at A to Z, things stay pretty much the same.
