Pmi Zippers

Working out of 410 Sun Industrial Estate in the Sun Mill Compound, things can get pretty hectic. We are Pmi Zippers, and as the name says, we spend our days surrounded by thousands of zippers. It’s a specific kind of business. Lower Parel has changed a lot over the years, with all the new buildings coming up, but our corner of the industrial estate still feels like the old days. The sounds of metal clinking and boxes being moved around is what I hear all day. We deal with different sizes, colors, and materials. Getting overwhelmed is easy if you aren't organized, so we try to keep everything labeled clearly on the metal racks. The light in the compound isn't always the best, so extra lamps are set up at our desks to check the quality of the teeth and sliders. It’s not a glamorous job, but every garment needs a way to close. We have regular customers who have been buying from us for a decade or more. They know where to find us in the back of the building. Sometimes the elevator in the estate is slow, so we end up carrying smaller boxes up the stairs. It keeps us fit, I suppose. We don’t have a fancy reception area. If you come by, you’ll just see us working among the stock. It’s a steady life here in the compound.
