Lokmanya General Store

Lokmanya General Store is located at Shop No 8 in the Jamila Building over in G K Lower Parel. We are specifically in Gala No 28 in Ganesh Nagar No 1 which is just opposite the Lower Parel station. This makes our shop a very busy place because of all the commuters going to and from work every single day. We sell all the basic things that people need for their homes like soap, grain, and snacks. The shelves are always packed from top to bottom with jars and packets of every kind. It is a tight space and sometimes it is hard to move around when we get a big delivery of new goods. We know most of the neighbors and the regulars who stop in for their morning supplies or a quick pack of biscuits. The noise from the trains is constant but you stop hearing it after you have worked here for a few weeks. We are open long hours because that is when the customers are around and needing things. It is a family-run kind of thing and we all take turns behind the counter throughout the week. We do not have a computerized system or anything complex like the big malls. We just write things down in our books and keep track of the stock by looking at the shelves. Lower Parel has changed a lot over the years with all the big offices but our little corner stays exactly the same.
