Liberty Tailor

We are located in Shop No 6 inside the Laxmi Villa Building in Mahim. It’s quite close to the Matunga Station on the West side, so we get a lot of people walking by after they get off the train. We’ve been sewing and fixing clothes here for a long time. The shop is small and usually filled with rolls of fabric and half-finished garments hanging up on the walls. We have a couple of old machines going throughout the day. It’s a noisy little place but we like the rhythm of the work. People from the nearby apartments usually drop off their repairs or come in for fittings during the evenings. We don't do much advertising, mostly just people telling their neighbors about our shop. Some days are really packed, especially before festivals, and other days it’s just quiet stitching and drinking tea. We try to get things done when we say we will, though sometimes the electricity goes out or we run out of a specific thread we need. It’s a simple living for us. We know most of our customers by name since they live right around Mahim or use the station daily. You might see us sitting out front on a stool when the sun goes down, just taking a little break from the sewing. It's not a fancy boutique, just a regular tailor shop where we work with our hands. We just want to keep the shop running like it always has.
