Laxmi Stores

Laxmi Stores is located at Number 7 on Nepean Sea Road in the Lower Parel area. It is a small shop squeezed into a row of other buildings. We have been here for quite some time now. The space inside is filled with shelves from the floor all the way to the ceiling. We have to use a small wooden ladder to reach the things at the top. It is a lot of physical work just moving items around every day. The neighborhood has a lot of old trees, so the street stays a bit shaded, but the humidity is still there. We know most of the people who live in the apartments nearby. They come in for small things they forgot to buy elsewhere. We don't have a big sign or any bright lights. The shop feels a bit old-fashioned because we haven't changed much in years. We use a simple cash drawer and keep notes in a book. Sometimes the stray cats from the alley come and sit near the door. We don't mind as long as they stay out of the way. The sidewalk is narrow, so people are always bumping into each other right outside our door. It is a quiet life for the most part. We just keep the shelves stocked and wait for the bell on the door to ring.
