You can find us on R.C. Marg, right across from the Koyana Colony. We are near Vasinaka in Chembur, tucked into Vishram Nagar. The shop isn't very big, and the sewing machines take up most of the space. There is always a pile of cloth scraps in the corner and thread everywhere. People bring in their clothes that don't fit right or fabric for new outfits. We spend most of the day hunched over the needles with the radio playing in the background. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the door open to get a bit of a breeze from the street. The noise from R.C. Marg is constant, with horns honking and people shouting outside. Sometimes we get a bit behind on orders when the power goes out or a machine breaks down. We try to keep track of everything in a big ledger book, but sometimes the pages get smudged. Most of our customers have been coming to us for years and live right here in Chembur. We don't have a big sign, just the work we do. It’s a simple life of measuring, cutting, and stitching. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a ten-minute break. The shop feels a bit cramped when three people are inside at once, but we make it work somehow. We usually have a lot of plastic bags filled with finished clothes hanging from hooks, waiting for people.
