L&W Construction Pvt. Ltd. operates from the 2nd floor of Plot No. 14 along the OMR Rajiv Gandhi Salai in Kandanchavadi. Being on the OMR means it’s always busy outside with all the IT folks and the heavy traffic. Our office is a bit of an escape from that, though you can still hear the horns honking from the window. We’ve got blueprints rolled up in every corner and old hard hats hanging by the door. It’s a construction office, so it isn't meant to be pristine or perfectly clean. We spend half our time here and the other half out at various sites around the city. The climb up to the second floor keeps us awake in the mornings since we don't use the elevator much. We have a small pantry where the coffee is always a bit too strong, but that’s how we like it. Working in Kandanchavadi is convenient for meeting people, but the parking is a total nightmare. We just focus on the plans and the building work. It’s a lot of coordinating between the engineers and the guys on the ground. Sometimes things go smoothly and sometimes we are dealing with delays for weeks because of the rain or stuff not showing up on time. That’s just the nature of the business. We’ve got a core group of people who have been with us for a long time, so we don’t have to explain much to each other anymore. We just get on with the day and see what happens next.
