Our spot is at 117 Maker Chambers III in Nariman Point. If you know Mumbai, you know this building has been here for a long time. It is right in the middle of everything, even if the building itself is getting a bit old now. We deal with industrial products, so the office is mostly full of boxes, samples, and stacks of orders waiting to go out. Being in Nariman Point means we are right by the water, but we spend most of our time inside looking at spreadsheets or talking to suppliers. The elevator here takes forever sometimes, which gives us a chance to chat with people from the other floors. Our room feels lived-in, with some coffee stains on the desks and old folders everywhere. We have some old posters on the wall from years ago that nobody has bothered to take down, and they kind of remind us of how long we have been sitting in this same spot. Lunch usually means grabbing something quick from a stall nearby or eating at the desk while we work. The humidity in this part of the city can be something else, but the breeze from the sea helps if you step outside for a minute. We know the security guards and the local chai wallah by name after all these years. It is a steady pace of work, and we just keep moving through our daily lists.
