L. A. Textile

L. A. Textile is located right in the thick of things on Kalbadevi Road. Our shop is Shop No.1 on the ground floor, at 159/14 Cavel Cross Lane No.6. If you know this area at all, you know how crowded and narrow the lanes are. It is always a struggle to get deliveries in and out because of the handcarts and the people everywhere. The shop itself is filled with rolls of fabric from floor to ceiling. It can get a bit dusty, and the light isn't the best, but it is where we have been doing our business for years. Dr. Vigas Street is always noisy, and we hear the shouting of the vendors all day long. We start our day by sweeping the front and arranging the samples. Most of our customers are people we have known for a long time, so we spend a lot of time just chatting over a cup of chai. We do not have any fancy displays or bright lights. It is just a simple place where we sell textiles and keep our handwritten ledgers. Sometimes the monsoon rain leaks a little near the back door, and we have to move the stock quickly to keep it dry. It is a bit of a scramble, but that is life in an old building like this. We are just regular people trying to keep the business going in one of the busiest parts of the city. Every day is different, and there is never a quiet moment around here.
