L 18 Fashion Fabric

If you know Manish Shopping Centre on J P Road, you know how busy it gets around here. Our shop, L 18 Fashion Fabric, sits right in the middle of all that Andheri West energy. Being near 4 Bunglows means there’s never a quiet moment. We spend our mornings unrolling fabrics and trying to keep the shelves from getting too messy. It’s a constant battle with the dust that comes off the street. People come in and out all day, looking at different patterns and feeling the material. We usually have a radio playing somewhere in the back to drown out the car horns. The space at Plot No. 22/23 is filled with rolls of cloth from floor to ceiling. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific color when things get moved around during the rush. We eat lunch in the small back corner between stacks of cotton and silk. It’s just how it is. Working in fashion fabric isn't as glamorous as it sounds; it’s mostly just moving heavy rolls and making sure the measurements are correct. The air conditioning struggles sometimes when the afternoon sun hits the front of the center. We’ve known the other shop owners around here for years. It’s a community. We just keep our heads down and handle the orders as they come in. That’s the life here on J P Road. We don't do anything special, just sell fabric to folks who need it for their projects and hope they find what they want.
