This shop is located right at Shop No. 10 in Sakina Manzil. If you know the Mohd. Durani Chowk area, you already know how crowded it gets around here in Kurla West. We sit right opposite the Sansar Hotel, so there is always a strong smell of food in the air. We deal with garments and have various stacks piled up inside on the wooden racks. Some days the floor gets a bit dusty from all the foot traffic coming in from the street. We try to keep things tidy, but when new bundles arrive, it takes up all the floor space for a few hours. We don’t have a big corporate office or fancy computers. It’s just the shop floor and a small wooden counter where we do the accounts in a ledger. The building itself is an older one, and Sakina Manzil has its own character. Most of our day is spent talking to people who live nearby or work in the small offices around the chowk. We see the same faces every day. The rain sometimes leaks a bit near the front door during the monsoon season, so we have to move the racks back every time it pours. It’s a simple life running a garment shop here. We don’t use any fancy systems, mostly just notebooks and pens for everything. Usually, by evening, the street lights come on and the whole area gets even busier with people going home. We keep the doors open until quite late most nights.
