Kutbi Garments

We have been here at Shop No. 10 in Sakina Manzil for a while now. Kurla West is always busy, especially near Sansar Hotel and the Zainee Masjid. You can hear the traffic and people talking all day long outside. Our shop isn't huge, but we keep it organized with all kinds of garments packed onto the shelves and some hanging from the ceiling hooks. Most days it’s just us folding things back up after someone takes a look. The stairs in the building are a bit narrow and old, but everyone knows where we are. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so we keep the ceiling fan running at full speed. We don't have fancy glass displays, just the clothes and some basic plastic chairs for people to sit if they’re tired from walking around the crowded market. Sometimes the new stock arrives late because of the heavy traffic on the main road, but that’s just how things go here in Mumbai. We spend a lot of time checking the tags and making sure everything is in the right pile. It’s a lot of manual work every single day. People stop by on their way to the masjid or after eating at the hotel nearby. We know most of the neighbors pretty well by now. It’s just a regular shop doing its own thing. Nothing too complicated about how we run it. We open up early, dust the counters off, and wait for people. It’s been this way for a long time. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but people find us.
