Kurla Dry Fruit

Our shop is at the very beginning of Rodix Chawl, in the Laxman area of Kurla West. It’s Shop Number 1 on Hennur Main Road. We’re really close to the Kurla West Railway Station, so it’s a very busy spot with people rushing past all the time. When you walk in, you’ll see big sacks of almonds, walnuts, and cashews. We don't have fancy glass displays for everything; a lot of it is just in the containers it arrived in. The smell of dried fruits and nuts is pretty strong in the small space. We spend a lot of our time weighing things out on the scales and bagging them up for customers. It gets crowded in here, especially in the evenings when people are heading home from the station. We’ve been in this chawl for a long time. The floors are a bit worn and the shelves are old, but they hold everything we need. We don't do much advertising; people just know we're here because they pass us every day. Sometimes we’re busy sorting through a new shipment to make sure everything looks okay. It’s a simple business. We open up, stack the boxes, and wait for the commuters. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy bags and keeping things tidy in a small shop, but it’s what we do.
